Local Air Quality Strategy and Air Quality Action Plan

The Council has prepared a new Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) as part of the London Local Air Quality Management system.

This is a statutory process in which borough-wide air pollution monitoring, assessment and actions will be carried out to reduce local air pollution and people’s exposure.

The AQAP outlines the planned improvement actions to improve air quality in Barking and Dagenham in the period up to 2030 with the following delivery themes:

  • Healthy school neighbourhoods
  • Freight, industrial and servicing emissions
  • Clean development and construction
  • Council and contractor emissions leadership
  • Clean air, health and exposure reduction
  • Monitoring, evidence and transparency

We want your views on whether we are focusing on the right issues, locations and actions.
